Keira Knightley beaten by jealous lover in hard-hitting domestic abuse TV campaign

Keira Knightley is left battered and bruised by her jealous boyfriend in a gritting TV campaign to raise awareness of domestic violence.
The 24-year-old actress is seen curled up on the floor as she is repeatedly kicked in the stomach during the two minute advertisement.
The short film, entitled Cut, was helmed by Keira's Atonement and Pride & Prejudice director Joe Wright and hopes to raise money for the Women's Aid charity.

Victim: Keira doubles up in pain after being attacked by her lover

In the ad, Keira plays a successful film actress who is suffering domestic abuse at home.
Her young, glamorous character contrasts with the downtrodden housewife who are stereotyped at typical victims of domestic violence.

Playing a stunning actress with a lavish apartment with her handsome beau, it looks like Keira's character has a perfect lifestyle.
Keira said: 'I wanted to take part in this advert for Women's Aid because while domestic violence exists in every section of society we rarely hear about it.

He's behind you: A scared Keira prepares to confront her partner after coming home late
'Domestic violence affects one in four women at some point in their lifetime and kills two women every week.'
The ad starts with Keira leaving a movie set after a long day's filming.
Driving home, Keira looks apprehensive and nervous as she approaches her apartment block.
She sees the shadowy figure of her male partner standing on a balcony and their failure to greet or wave at each other hints at the drama to come.
After entering the flat and calling 'sweetheart', Keira realises her partner is in one of his dark moods when she sees their hall mirror has been shattered and there is blood on the floor.

Challenging stereotypes: Stunning Keira's casting in the ad shows it's not only downtrodden housewives affected by domestic violence

When he silently enters the room, she says, 'You're here... you're hurt,' before offering him a teatowel for his bloodied hand.
He snaps it out of her hands and jealously questions her about her 'leading man' and asks her if the love scenes 'feel real'.
When Keira protests 'it's my job', she is taken aback when he flicks the teatowel in her face.
A stunned Keira says: 'Sorry, we didn't agree to that. That isn't in the script.'

Disturbing: Keira's character is dragged by the hair by her violent partner in the ad for Women's Aid
Her angry partner then lashes out and shoves her violently on the floor.
In horrifying scenes, he then picks Keira up by her hair and slams her against the floor again, before kicking her repeatedly in the stomach.
The hard-hitting ad features graphic sound effects of his foot making connection with her ribs and her yelps of pain.
As the man repeatedly kicks a slumped Keira on the floor, the camera zooms out to show their apartment is actually a film set, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.

The advert, made by advertising agency Grey London, asks 'Isn't it time someone called cut?'
The commercial gives the statistic that two women die every week and asks viewers to donate to charity Women's Aid.
Both Keira and Joe offered their services to free.

The ad is set to hit cinema screams on April 6.

The stunned actress sobbed as the Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel handed down the term and blasted her for not taking her probation in two 2007 drink-driving cases seriously.
Lohan, who will start her sentence on July 20, must also serve 90 days as an in-patient on a substance abuse programme once she is released from jail.

Disbelief: Lindsay's tortured facial expressions revealed the growing horror as her worst fears of a jail term were realised

However, the Los Angeles Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore said later an inmate in Lohan's situation generally serves about 25 per cent of their sentence - approximately 23 days.
The actress had tearfully addressed the judge in a last attempt to avoid jail after it was ruled she violated her probation by repeatedly missing court-ordered alcohol education classes.
Lohan protested she did not realise she had not been keeping up with the order and insisted a busy work schedule had stopped her attending regularly.
She maintained: 'I was taking it seriously. I wasn't expecting any special treatment.'
'I'm not taking this as a joke. It's my life and my career, something I have worked for my entire life.'

She was handed a box of tissues to wipe her eyes as the tears flowed.
Lohan told the judge: 'I have tried to do the best I can. It's just been such a long haul. I don't want you to think I don't respect you and your terms.

Lindsay Lohan cries in court after being sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation in a pair of 2007 DUI cases.
Grovelling: Lindsay made a desperate plea to the judge before her sentencing

The Beverly Hills court heard Lohan repeatedly missed once-weekly classes at an alcohol-education programme.
Lohan had failed to attend the course at least nine times since October 16, the court heard.
Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley claimed Lohan had done well by meeting the overall terms of her probation.
She urged the judge not to punish Lohan too severely because she 'did the best she could under extremely difficult circumstances'.
After being handed her sentence, the devastated star briefly covered her face with her lawyer's notes, which listed excuses for why she missed some of her classes.

Lohan was on probation after two DUI offences in less than two months in 2007.
On May 26, 2007, the actress was in a Mercedes-Benz that crashed into a hedge along Sunset Boulevard.
Less than two months later she was arrested in Santa Monica on suspicion of drink-driving.
Lohan later pleaded no contest to two counts each of drunken driving and being under the influence of cocaine, and one count of reckless driving.
She spent just 84 minutes in Los Angeles County women’s detention center in Lynwood, California in November 2007 due to overcrowding and was placed on three years probation.

Lohan's probation was extended for a year in October after she missed some alcohol-education classes while making a movie in Texas.

In May she failed to show up for a court hearing because she was at the Cannes Film Festival.
Her legal team claimed she was stranded in France after her passport was stolen.
Lohan eventually made it to court four days late, when she was ordered to wear a Scram alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet as a condition of her release on bail pending Tuesday's probation hearing.

She was also ordered to undergo random drug testing, among other conditions.

On June 6 the bracelet indicated Lohan may have violated her bail by consuming alcohol after the MTV Movie Awards.
The judge doubled Lohan's bail and the actress posted a bond with the court, allowing her to remain out of custody.
At yesterday's hearing, Revel did not consider the Scram anklet as part of her determination of whether Lohan violated probation.
The judge conceded Lohan was ordered to wear the device as a condition of her bail when she appeared in court in May, not when she was placed on probation.
Lohan was ordered to continue wearing the Scram until she reports to jail later this month.

Lohan must not drink any alcohol as a condition of her continuing probation.
Her estranged father Michael, with his lawyer Lisa Bloom, and the actress's sister Ali, 16, were both in the court.
And her rumoured new girlfriend Eilat Anschel, who recently completed a mandatory stretch in the Israeli Army, was also spotted by onlookers.
Her mother Dina was not believed to be in attendance.
After leaving court, her father Michael appeared on Larry King Live to speak of his 'dismay', but 'satisfaction' over his daughter's sentencing.
He said: 'I feel dismay, but at the same time a little satisfaction that she's going to rehab. But the last thing in the world I wanted was for my daughter to go to jail.
'Any kind of jail is harsh especially for a young lady like Lindsay that doesn't need jail. I've been there myself and I know that jail didn't do anything for me with my addictions. It was taking drug programs seriously.'
As Lindsay went home and requested friends to visit her on her Twitter page, her father was later spotted out partying at The Saddle Ranch on Sunset Boulevard.
Actor Danny DeVito was also at the Beverly Hills courthouse yesterday.
But unlike the others, he was not there for moral support.
A spokesperson for the Twins actor told Mail Online he had been called for jury duty on a separate case.

With her arrest on Wednesday night and new charges being pressed against her over a car crash back in June, it has not been a good 24 hours for Lindsay Lohan.
And now, the 26-year-old star's even appears to be falling out with her friends, with her former assistant Gavin Doyle posting comments about her on Twitter.
Lohan kicked Doyle out of her car after he bailed her out at the police station in New York this morning, according to Gawker and The New York Post, who have posted video of the incident,
Gawker have published a transcript of the incident which happened when Lohan emerged from a Manhattan police station following her arrest for allegedly punching psychic Tiffany Eve Mitchell at Avenue nightclub.
After Doyle gets into the car, Lohan is heard yelling: 'Gavin get out of the car, get out of the car Gavin! Get him out of the car, now! Gavin get out! Gavin get out of the f***** car. Now.'
Doyle is alleged to have replied: 'Okay. Never speak to me again,' before striding down the street with his jacket over his head.
Earlier, he tweeted under moniker SaveTheSociety: '@lindsaylohan after bailing you out last night I HOPE and PRAY you get the help you so desperately need. We are ALL rooting for you. xxx'

He then added: 'Life is NOT a movie it's a reality that needs to be faced.'

According to Gawker, things may have become strained between the pair after his testimony to police about June's car crash contradicted Lohan's story.
Lohan has been charged with 'wilfully resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer in the course of their duties, providing false information to a police officer, and reckless driving.'
The actress told the police that Doyle was driving the Porsche on the Pacific Coast Highway when it crashed and she was in the passenger seat.
However, in a statement, the Santa Monica Police Department said they now believed that this was not the case.

According to a TMZ report published earlier this month, Doyle  was interviewed by police following the crash, where he told them he was riding in the passenger seat when the accident happened.
Despite Doyles's tweets on Thursday, things appeared to be fine between he and Lohan back in September, when Lohan tweeted: 'Can't live without @SaveTheSociety he's my BFF.'
